Golden Tiger is sweetened with organic blue agave and a touch of organic stevia leaf extract, with 4 g sugar and 20 calories per can. We chose agave because it’s sweeter than sugar by volume, so a little goes a long way, and its smooth taste suits turmeric and ginger.
Is agave healthy?
Agave is still a sugar: it contributes calories, and it’s naturally high in fructose. It’s a thoughtful choice within a drink with just 4 g sugar, not a health food on its own.
Does agave syrup have any fiber?
Very little. The agave plant stores fiber called fructans, but making the syrup turns nearly all of it into simple sugars. Our supplier’s testing shows less than 1%. We don’t count it as a benefit.
Why not zero sugar?
Because a drink you enjoy twice a day has to taste good, and we wanted plant sweetness rather than artificial sweeteners. Pairing agave with a little stevia leaf keeps the sugar to 4 grams, far below a typical soda.
We’d rather tell you the trade-offs than call an ingredient something it isn’t.
